Dr. Olson was born and raised in Maryland. He completed his BS degree in 2000 from Salisbury University and received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Houston, Dental Branch in 2007. He completed a three-year residency program in Orthodontics at the University of Maryland, Baltimore College of Dentistry in 2010 where he received his Master of Science Degree in Oral Biology and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Olson has received numerous awards throughout his academic career including the prestigious Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society Scholarship for academic performance, as well as the University of Texas, Dental Branch Dean’s Excellence Letter. He was also a recipient of the American Association of Dental Research Fellowship for investigating the bioengineering of human tooth root implants. Dr. Olson completed his Masters thesis investigating the role of geniohyoid muscle activity and movement of the hyoid bone during swallowing. His work was performed in collaboration with the Johns Hopkins Hospital Department of Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine. In addition to performing research, he has also served on the cleft palate team at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
In his spare time Dr Olson enjoys spending time with his wife Melissa, and his two sons Tyler and Evan. He also enjoys home improvement projects, playing Guitar Hero, and he is a big fan of the Baltimore Ravens.
